Welcoming new followers on Twitter | #ShopfloorHeroes

Happy Friday! Welcome back to this week's #ShopfloorHeroes blogpost where we feature some of the awesome broadcasts and conversations we have seen from our awesome client, Hobbycraft, over the past week.

This week's post is all about welcoming your new followers on Twitter. Welcoming new followers is a good example of how an offline experience can be translated to an online one- for example, when you walk into a store you are often greeted by a colleague. Twitter should be no different!

This initial engagement with new followers offers a good opportunity to open up the channel of communication and let your followers know that you are ready and waiting to answer any of their queries! Customers may find reaching out to the store on Twitter more convenient compared to having to ring the store on the phone.

Here are a few recent examples of Hobbycraft stores welcoming their new followers:

(Above) Janine from Hobbycraft King's Lynn is one of our #ShopfloorHeroes as she has truly mastered the art of responding to customers on behalf of her store! Using a personal sign-off is a great way to add a personal touch and let your followers know who works in their local store. Janine has also ensured to ask the followers some questions to encourage engagement- this is awesome.

(Above) This is another great welcoming tweet from new store, Hobbycraft Chichester. The store is due to open next month. The store has been on it with welcoming new followers and keeping them updated about the store opening. The store are working hard to build up a community before the store officially opens.

(Above) This example from Hobbycraft King's Lynn shows how a welcoming tweet can turn into a conversation. Janine has ensured to use consistent personal sign-offs throughout the conversation and has shown interest in the customer by taking a few minutes to check out their Twitter page.

We hope that you have enjoyed this week’s #ShopfloorHeroes blogpost and are inspired to talk to your customers on Twitter! To find out more about how we can create #ShopfloorHeroes within your organisation, please email us at or click here and we will call you back.
